Aboudou ASSOUMA remains

(independantexpress.net)

It was part of one of the recommendations of the GOODIs roadmap. It is the recomposition of the Constitutional Court. Long decried by the Togolese opposition given its murky role that it has always played in the proclamation of the results of the mostly presidential elections, this problem court whose recomposition should be done in the standards especially with people changes, well! this is not the case.

Indeed, the real problem that is the president of this court whose affinity with Faure Gnassingbé or his activism for the UNIR party is no longer to be demonstrated has remained unmovable. Yes Aboudou ASSOUMA remains and remains president of the Togolese Constitutional Court.

On Monday, December 30, Aboudou ASSOUMA and his family took office after a solemn swearing-in ceremony in Lomé in the presence of Faure Gnassingbé.

"The head of state has given note to their oath and congratulated them for their commitment to the service of the nation," reads a note from the Presidency of the Republic.

The president of the main Togolese opposition party ANC, Jean Pierre FABRE, believes that there has been no recomposition. "Faure Gnassingbé once again surrounded himself with members of his family by marriage," he said.

The Constitutional Court is the highest constitutional court in the state. It consists of nine (09) recognized probity members, appointed for a six-year term renewable only once.
